In mijn kunstpraktijk zoek ik naar de realiteit achter het zichtbare. Spirituele teksten en filosofen zijn mijn inspiratiebronnen.
Blanka De Bruyne (Brugge,1975) studeerde culturele en sociale geschiedenis aan de universiteit van Gent en Groningen.
Tijdens haar studie verdiepte zij zich in diverse kunststromingen en culturele bewegingen. Ook volgde ze de opleiding schilderen aan de Académie des Beaux-Arts Jean-Jacques Gailliard in Brussel. De mens en de menselijke emotie staan centraal in haar werk, hierbij gaat het niet om de weergave van de werkelijkheid maar de mens als symbool en de wereld achter de zichtbare werkelijkheid, het mythisch denken. Ze schildert portretten, vaak geïnspireerd op beelden uit de media die ze uit elkaar haalt en vertaalt. Het zijn decomposities die bestaande beelden terugbrengen en omvormen tot een geheel van kleuren en deeltjes. Expressief kleurgebruik en dynamische vormen zijn hiervoor kenmerkend.

In my artistic practice, I search for the reality behind the visible. Spiritual texts and philosophers are my sources of inspiration.
Blanka De Bruyne (Bruges,1975) studied cultural and social history at the university of Gent en Groningen. During her study she focused on artistic and cultural movements. Also she studied painting at the Académie des Beaux Arts Jean-Jacques Gaillard in Brussels. People and the human emotion are central in her work, it reflects what's behind reality rather than reality itself, the mythical thinking. She paints portraits, mostly inspired by images in the media, transcending and translating them.
It are decompositions reforming existing images in colours and particles. Expressive colours an dynamic forms characterize her work.
